University Life in the UK

It’s not surprising that so many people say that their days at university were the best of their life. You get completely immersed in a new environment, surrounded by new people from all over the world. Here in the UK you will be joining one of the world’s largest student populations as part of a very special community.

There is a lot more to university life than just studying. You enjoy an incredible social life, and visit fascinating towns, vibrant cities and picturesque little villages while you are here.

Some of the most memorable, and enjoyable experiences of your life await you, and you have the pleasure of knowing that your classmates could very well become your lifelong friends.

University Life

Your mind is buzzing with new ideas, while you find yourself experiencing a totally different way of living, and maybe becoming independent for the first time. One day you are learning how to use a washing machine, or a cooker. I’m pretty sure you’ll soon be:

Making Memories

The next, your roommate is teaching you a few words in Polish. Every day you’re at university, you’ll encounter something new and exciting. One thing you will never forget are the amazing friends you will make while you are studying. Together you will experience the highs and lows, late nights revising, parties, hitting pubs and clubs, and the joy of passing an exam you were sure you would fail. Then years later, after you graduate, they will still be in your life to give you assistance, perhaps with a useful business contact.

Looking Back on Your Time at University

Years later, after you graduate, your friends will still be in your life to give you assistance, perhaps with a useful business contact.  And don’t forget the reunions when you get to reminisce about your many remarkable memories along the way. Like the time you won the university football league cup, or met your partner! There will always be a special bond between you and your university friends, as you will have shared one of life’s most demanding journeys together, and managed to reach your goal as a team.

Things Good to Know

Whatever university you’re thinking of attending, you will never be without support. There are numerous ways that a university can support you, both as a student, and on a personal level, as an individual.

You’ll have the support from all of your friends and family back home, but also from the new friends that you’ve made at university, including academics! As a student, you can find support for several different aspects of university life – such as health, well-being, finances, and accommodation.

It’s always a good idea to research what additional kinds of support might be available, before accepting your place. For instance, some universities have support teams to look out for students on a night out, for example, by helping you find your way home, or running a minibus service.

During your time at university, you definitely should make the most of every opportunity. If you can, it’s a great idea to get the support of an academic mentor, and a peer mentor. Especially to help you settle in the first year.
