It is the only university established after 1992 to have its own medical school, and it maintains robust links with a number of other educational establishments, and organisations in the south west region. The past few years have seen significant growth and improvement across many different departments, most notably the library and the student union, as well as the faculties of Health, Education and Society, and Marine Science.
